Plea Bargains Taken in the Big Jay Case

April 25th, 2009

After more than a year and a half since Paul Poulin and Alan Ritter were arrested for clear cutting a trail on Big Jay, the two men have accepted a plea bargain just before the case went to a jury trial. According to the Caledonian Record, the judge sentenced both men to 18 to 36 months each of probation and 60 days each on community work service.

I was wondering where this case was going. I asked my in-law about it this past weekend. She lives in the area so I figured if they was any buzz about it, she would know. The case has been pretty low-profile in the area. Never heard anything about it.

    Thanks for the update!

That seems like a pretty light sentence. If this is the sentence for a cut of this size, it’s not much of a deterrent.
